One of the most popular agave hybrids, Blue Glow Agave is a Kelly Griffin selection that was chosen for its beautiful blue color, compact size and the distinctive hyaline edge that makes the smooth leaf margins glow when backlit by the sun. Very architectural in appearance, at its best when planted in groups particularly on berms and in raised planters. Excellent as a container plant, it is easy to care for and requires little to no maintenance. It is generally non-offsetting which means it will maintain a neat appearance without forming a large number of pups around the base of the plant. Prefers excellent drainage and tolerates full sun. Water weekly once established. Cold hardy to 20-25F.

Foxtail Agave is a “soft agave” that is gentle to the touch with pliable leaves and smooth edges. Ray of Light Foxtail Agave is a collectible selection with variegated foliage in green and creamy white. Excellent filling a raised bed or in a large container. It thrives in full coastal sun but will appreciate afternoon protection in harsher inland climates. Foxtail Agave gets its name from the long bushy bloom stalk that curves out from the center of its rosette. Flowering occurs only once in its lifetime, and then it will replace itself with bulbil plantlets formed along the stalk. ‘Ray of Light’ is a tropical agave that is sensitive to cold climates. Frost protection should be provided at temperatures below 28F.

White Striped Century Plant is a rare selection of agave that forms a medium sized rosette of white leaves edged in blue. Adding bold color to the waterwise landscape, it requires little to no water once established. Armed with both marginal and terminal spines, it is a good choice as a specimen or accent and should be planted away from high traffic pathways. Preferring excellent drainage, it will not tolerate damp conditions. Like almost all agaves, it is monocarpic and blooms only at the end of its life cycle. Throughout its life prior to flowering, it will create new offsets which are referred to as “pups.” These will grow to replace it when it is gone. Cold hardy to 15-20F.
