Black Stem Elephant’s Ear is a tropical native of Polynesia with more cold tolerance than most Elephant’s Ears. Although its spectacular 3 foot long heart shaped leaves are frost tender, the plant will resprout from the base. Colorful and lush, it has purple veins and stems that can appear almost black in color. Heat and moisture loving, it can also be grown in areas that collect standing water or as an aquatic plant. A heavy feeder, it prefers rich soil and regular fertilizer. Evergreen in frost free climates.
