Dwarf Porcupine Grass is a Japanese native with attractive banded leaves that resemble striped porcupine quills. Forming an upright clump, this warm season grass fades to tan after frost and regrows in spring. ‘Gold Bar’ is an improved selection with more compact size and dramatic banding than ‘Strictus.’ Excellent in containers and rock gardens. It prefers sunny locations with regular water.
