Reed Avocado is a later season variety with great creamy flavor and very large rounded fruits with strong skin. Although not the most cold tolerant selection, it does well with winter protection and has superior heat tolerance which is a benefit in harsh summer climates. Upright in habit, it can be pruned to a smaller size for container growing or easier harvest. Reed has a Type A flower and requires proximity to a Type B avocado such as Fuerte or Sir Prize for optimum pollination and fruit production. Cold hardy to 30F.
