One of the smallest and most ornamental flowering plum trees, Purple Leaf Plum is covered with softly fragrant light pink flowers in the spring and an umbrella shaped canopy of dark purple leaves in summer. Ideal as a color accent near a patio or walkway, it makes an excellent small shade tree or screen. Heat tolerant and adaptable to all types of well drained soils. It is fruitless, or nearly fruitless, occasionally producing a few tiny inconspicuous plums.
