Water Hawthorne has narrow leaves that form attractive patterns on the surface of ponds. It blooms in cool weather in spring and fall with profuse white flowers that have a sweet vanilla fragrance. Growing from a bulb, it goes dormant during hot weather and grows actively when temperatures are cool. Plant with water lilies for near continuous growth as these two flourish in opposite seasons.
