Sir Prize Avocado has pebbled black skin and excellent flavor that is usually described as sweet, rich and nutty. Popular among commercial growers, Sir Prize has a small pit giving it the best fruit to seed ratio in comparison to other varieties. Often grown as an alternative to Haas, Sir Prize is more tolerant of cold weather and bears fruit up to two months earlier. Growing in an upright habit, this variety needs regular watering, well drained soil and protection from extreme cold to thrive. Flower is Type B and proximity to a Type A variety such as Stewart or Reed is necessary for effective pollination and maximum production. Cold hardy to 28F.
