Red Sister Cordyline is an attractive selection of ti plant with deep red to burgundy foliage. Excellent for containers and partially sunny patios, the bright tropical foliage is colorful and attractive. With maturity, Cordyline forms a small trunk giving them a palm like appearance. Somewhat drought tolerant in coastal conditions but will grow more robustly with moderate water. It maintains its vibrant leaves year round and can remain outdoors in non-freezing climates. Adaptable to full coastal sun but preferring protection from harsh afternoon sun in the inland Central Valley climate. Cordyline is adaptable as a houseplant and can easily be brought indoors during winter. One thing to watch with Cordyline is a sensitivity to flouride which is found in some water systems and can cause brown leaf tips. In these instances, use of collected rain water or distilled water may be preferred.
