Norfolk Island Pine is an evergreen native of Norfolk Island off the coast of Australia. Often sold as a living indoor Christmas tree, when planted in the ground outdoors it forms a tall majestic columnar pyramid. The fine foliage is shorter and softer than pine needles, and although the tree is cone bearing it is not actually a pine and has a more prehistoric feel. Fast growing, they need space to grow and prefer deep, porous, moderately fertile, reasonably moist soils.
