Scarlet Fire® Dogwood was developed at Rutgers University and is unique for its prolific scarlet blooms, which can be up to 5 inches across. Showy and long blooming, Scarlet Fire® stays small and is easy to maintain with light pruning and an application of balanced slow release fertilizer in the spring before new leaves emerge. Like all dogwoods it prefers fertile, acidic soil and appreciates a deep layer of mulch.
