Galaxy Magnolia has fragrant pink flowers and an upright form. It was developed by the National Arboretum and won a Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Gold Medal Plant Award in 1992. Galaxy grows as a single stem tree with ascending branches and is ideal as an accent or focal tree. It blooms in late spring after the highest danger of frost has passed. Like all magnolias it grows best in moist rich soil that is well drained and slightly acidic.
