The needles of Dragon’s Eye Pine are variegated in bands of yellow and green. When viewed from above the color pattern creates the illusion of an eye. Generally growing asymmetrically but also trainable in an upright mounded form, it makes an artistic statement in the landscape and stands out best when grown in front of a darker background. Small and manageable in size and suitable for growing in a container. Unlike most pines, Dragon’s Eye Pine tolerates partial shade. Attractive red/gray fissured bark and small clusters of 2″ cones add seasonal interest and charm.
