Tall and massive with a wide smooth trunk and blue green feather shaped leaves, Chilean Wine Palm is a favorite among collectors. Native to Chile where the weather is often similar to California, it is easy to grow in a temperate climate and is drought tolerant once established and mature. Young trees prefer some protection from full sun but will adapt with age. To prevent bud rot in younger specimens, overhead watering with sprinklers should be avoided.
