Desert Rose is a succulent related to Plumeria with showy trumpet shaped flowers and thick plump branches with a caudex trunk. Deciduous in cold weather, it is very sensitive to overwatering and requires excellent drainage. Native to the semi-arid region of the Sub-Sahara, it has little cold tolerance and should be moved indoors by a sunny window when temperatures dip below 40F. During winter it should only be watered when the stem begins to slightly wilt.
