North of USDA Zone 10 it is best grown in containers and sheltered during cold weather. The smallest of the blue cycads, its leaves recurve strongly and each spine twists at the end giving the fronds a ferocious appearance. To achieve its striking blue color, full sun is an absolute must. All parts of this plant, including seeds, are toxic.
