Black Mission Fig is the industry standard, growing into a large long lived tree that produces purplish black fruits ideal for fresh eating, drying and canned preserves. Self-fruitful and heavy bearing, although it will naturally tend toward growing large, with diligent pruning it can be kept at any size. Figs are considered drought tolerant for fruit trees, however they do need regular deep watering especially during their first year when they are establishing roots.
