Variegated Rubber Tree is sumptuously colorful with vibrantly splashed foliage in shades of red, burgundy, green, pink and cream. Lower maintenance and easier to care for than many other ficus varieties, it prefers soil that is lightly moist and should be watered when the top 2″ are dry. Typically it should be watered once per week in the warm growing months and every two weeks in winter. Although it does not require as much light as a Fiddle Leaf Fig, it still prefers bright diffused light conditions. Protect Rubber Trees from scorching sun and harsh drafts or sudden temperature shifts, such as in front of air conditioner or heating vents. Trim to size if you prefer that they remain more compact, but avoid skin contact with it’s milky sap as it is toxic to people and pets.
