Hawaiian Ti Plant is a strikingly beautiful tropical evergreen with broad burgundy leaves and a tall, narrow habit. It can be grown as a houseplant or a patio specimen outdoors. Sun brings out the best leaf color, but protection from harsh afternoon sun is required in inland Central Valley climates. Cold hardy to 30F, it makes a very nice indoor plant during the coldest parts of winter. One thing to watch with Cordyline is a sensitivity to flouride which is found in some water systems and can cause brown leaf tips. In these instances, use of collected rain water or distilled water may be preferred.
