Let’s Dance Can Do!® Reblooming Hydrangea creates flower buds along the entire length of the stem instead of only at the top like other big-leaf hydrangeas. That means that even if gets damaged in winter there will still be flower buds to open in early summer. The beautiful lacecap flowers are reblooming and appear in shades, pink and purple depending on the acid/alkaline balance of your soil. Big-leaf hydrangeas should be planted in moist but well-drained soil with a 2-3″ layer of mulch in all climates. Ideally, they should receive 4-6 hours of sun per day, the hotter your climate the more shade the plant can withstand. In order to encourage repeat blooms, fertilize with a granular fertilizer in early spring and again in late spring. Never fertilize after July as it may interfere with winter dormancy. Although pruning isn’t recommended, light shaping can be performed as desired.
