Native to the Sonoran Desert of Baja, California, Mexican Giant Cardón is a magnificent columnar cactus that may be the largest cactus in the world. Living up to 200 years and reaching up to 60 feet in height, in the home garden a nursery raised seedling is more likely to reach only a moderate height in one person’s lifetime. A branching cactus, it will eventually grow into a tree like shape. Very adaptable to heat and drought. Mexican Giant Cardón prefers dry climates and does not thrive in areas with high winter rainfall.
