Mountain Aloe forms a tall trunk topped with a massive solitary rosette. It is a statement plant in the waterwise landscape, adding height at the back of the border and sending up a multibranched flower stalk in late fall. Its gray green leaves are heavily studded with thick sharp spines. As older leaves retire and dry up, they form a shaggy protective skirt along the trunk. Cold hardy to 20F.
