Fuerte Avocado is the original California avocado and is one of the more cold tolerant varieties, withstanding temperatures as low as 27F. Known for its smooth texture and rich nutty flavor, the fruits are medium in size with easy to peel skin. Avocados prefer well drained soil with regular water. To make harvesting easier, prune regularly to limit height. Fuerte has a Type B flower and should be planted in proximity to a Type A variety such as Stewart or Reed to maximize pollination and fruit production.
