The hardiest of the pinnate leaved palms, Pindo Palm forms long feathery fronds with silvery green leaves and edible fruit that has traditionally been used to make jelly or wine. Native to South America, it forms a stout solitary trunk up to 1.5 feet in diameter with long recurved fronds that reach back toward the ground. Elegant as a focal point in the landscape, Pindo Palm is resistant to wind damage and recovers quickly from transplanting. It is adaptable to various types of soil and weather conditions and tolerates some drought once established.
