Not a true palm, Sago Palm is actually a cycad, an ancient genus closely related to conifers and ferns. Prized for their glossy dark green evergreen foliage, Sago Palms are architectural in appearance and are ideal as container specimens, tropical accents or focal points near patios, walkways and entries. Provide adequate clearance when planting as each leaf tip is sharply spiked. Sago Palms are either male or female, and can be identified by the shape of their flower. The brightly colored seeds produced by female plants are toxic and not suitable for consumption by people or pets.
