Snake Plant is a popular tropical succulent that tolerates low light and minimal water, making it one of the easiest houseplants to care for especially for beginners. The exact varieties we carry change with the season but they are one of our continual favorites and we often have them in stock. This variety is Sansevieria zeylanica, a beautiful specimen with dramatically striped leaves and tall narrow form. Water snake plants once a week to twice a month during warm weather and once a month to twice a month when it’s cool. A good indicator of when a snake plant is actually thirsty is to feel the leaves for firmness which indicates they are already well watered and to watch for wrinkles at the leaf bases, which indicates thirst. Sansevieria can be grown outdoors year round in completely frost free climates, or be kept on a shaded patio during the warm season and brought inside during winter.
