Shiny Xylosma is useful as a hedge or tall screen and can be trained as a tree for patios or containers. Compact with dense shiny leaves, its natural habit is a rounded umbrella shape. New growth has an attractive bronze red color that ages to rich green. Easily shaped by shearing, it is a tough versatile evergreen. Although regular watering is preferred it is adaptable to brief periods of drought.
