Giant Bird of Paradise is a slow grower that becomes more breathtaking the larger it gets. Perfect poolside or as a foundation plant anywhere a bold tropical statement is wanted. The flowers, which appear as the plant matures, resemble white bird heads with blue tongues.

Forming a large multitrunked clump, it is excellent as a garden border or privacy screen. If a somewhat smaller clump is desired it can be planted in large containers to limit growth. Because of its large size and spread, care should be taken in selecting an initial planting location not too close to the house or walkways. The grayish green foliage is evergreen and frost tender. It will bloom almost year round in frost free zones and regrow in warm weather where frost occurs. Seasonal maintenance includes removal of any damaged leaves or unwanted stalks.
