Sweet Bay Tree is a popular evergreen with many useful attributes in the landscape. Trainable as a single-trunk tree with a dense canopy of foliage, it can also be used as a multi-trunk screen or hedge. Moderately slow growing it is easily pruned to almost any size and can be used as a container or topiary tree for the patio. A Mediterranean native with silver gray bark and green aromatic leaves, Sweet Bay has long been used as a culinary herb in the kitchen. Resistant to fire, it is a valuable addition to the firewise landscape and is drought tolerant once established.
