The state tree of Louisiana, Bald Cypress is a large long-lived deciduous conifer with a pyramidal shaped canopy. One of its most attractive features is soft feathery foliage which turns an attractive orange cinnamon color in the winter. Adaptable to a wide range of soils including acidic, loamy, moist, sandy, silty loam, well-drained and clay. Thrives in wet conditions and can withstand flooding but grows in upland dry regions as well. A large well loved tree, iconic to the Southern Coastal United States.
