Yellow Yucca is a Texas native, forming arched mounds of narrow grass like leaves with peeling hair like fibers on the leaf edges. Tall showy spires of yellow flowers provide airy clouds of color in rock gardens, strip planters and dry garden beds as well as nectar for hummingbirds. Not really a true Yucca, its long narrow leaves are smooth and spineless. Normally blue green in color, the leaves are often tinged red and purple in cold weather. Tough and adapted to heat and drought they are valuable to waterwise gardeners. Thrives in full sun and prefers well drained soil with infrequent watering.
