Known as Argentine Saguaro Cactus, this is a fast growing alternative for those who don’t wish to wait for an actual saguaro to reach an impressive size. Growing up to 18 inches a year in ideal conditions, they form numerous upright branches and become tree like in appearance. Highly adaptable to high heat and full sun, it has beautiful golden spines that glow when back lit from the sun. Native to the semi-arid Chaco forest habitat of Argentina and Bolivia. Considered to be more adaptable to temperate winter climates than many low desert species. Protect growing tips from frost when young.
Reference note: This species is sometimes also called Trichocereus terscheckii
