Velvet Elephant Ear is native to Madagascar and is well adapted to heat and drought. Its large velvety leaves are very ornamental and are soft to the touch. Ideal planted in a large container or in a protected patio location. Tolerates full sun in coastal conditions but prefers partial sun inland. Plant in well drained soil and avoid overwatering. Velvet Elephant Ear is frost tender and should be overwintered in a greenhouse or sunroom in freezing climates.
